Vocal For Local

Economy, a term that is often used almost everyday. The pandemic has shattered the global economy as well as the Indian economy in many ways. The Indian economy is dependent on many sectors, tourism, technology, agriculture, education, textile etc.

But a major part is businesses, Tata, Reliance, Godrej, AMUL are some names almost all citizens know. But do we know, which businesses are their in your locality, street, city, state?

NO! We don't. Due to this ignorance or unawareness we were really ignored an important part of the economy that is local businesses.

Atmanirbhar Bharat

Post the intense months of the pandemic Hon.PM Narendra Modiji gave a slogan and asked us to start a Jan Andolan of Atmanirbhar Bharat or Self Reliant India. It seeks to make India a more important part of the global economy.

India can become self reliant, because we have the capacity to. That can be achieved only with the cooperation of the state and citizen. Sectors like defence and security, healthcare etc are the sectors where the state can achieve certain aspects of self reliance. But to make India we need to support small businesses that is we need to go VOCAL FOR LOCAL.

What does that exactly mean

Going Vocal for Local means instead of going for big brands we should go with local brands that offer same quality at affordable price.

This campaign seeks to promote local businesses like, Tribal art, handicraft, any special item of a particular region and small businesses.

Lets take an example, if we buy an ORS manufactured by a big brand at 100Rs, but if we just remove that tag of that company and buy generic medicine the cost comes down to 60Rs.

Instead of going to big huge malls, we all know Tulshibaug, Laxmi Road or any other local shops and markets where products are available at an affordable price with variety. I am not saying that, don't shop in malls. But if you are getting the same quality products at low prices, why not buy it?

We all have atleast 2 grocery shops and 2 vegetable sellers, they offer same products which online stores sell but they are even fresher and sold in front of our eyes, so why not buy from them. I am not saying to boycott any big firms, but apart from buying from them let us support small businesses also..

Remember a very important thing, QUALITY MATTERS, compromise in quality is not a very good sign, so go with the one which offers products with a better quality. Vocal for Local also means, if you like any small business or brand, you should promote and make it reach out to others as well. Another thing to remember, avoid foreign products as much as you can. That's the only way we can move towards a self reliant India.

Diyas, crackers, lanterns are some products that you can buy in this festive season. Various women self-help groups make diwali faral from where you can order. I have bought few products from local sellers in our locality, now it is your turn. This festive season, lets buy from local businesses and contribute in their as well as our India's growth and take it towards a better and brighter future

Thank you and wishing you and your family happy, prosperous deepawali. !
